polyposis is one of the most common disorders of upper airways caused by polyps - individual or multiple growths that develop in the lining of the nose and\u002For paranasal sinuses. Polyps may develop as a result of infection or allergic disorders: allergic rhinitis, bronchial asthma, chronic inflammation of the nose and paranasal sinuses as well as congenital anatomical defects of the nose.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Growing polyps, when protrude into the nasal cavity, impair airflow and lead to the characteristic symptoms: nasal obstruction, watering from the nose, chronic rhinorrhea, recurrent sinusitis, reduced or loss of sense of smell and taste, nasal voice, snoring,  sleep apnoea, nosebleed, and a sense of pressure over the face area.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>During examination, an otorhinolaryngologist assesses the patient’s condition and tailors an individual treatment based on the severity of the disease.\u003Cbr>\u003Cbr>Nasal polypectomy is a surgical procedure to treat nasal polyposis when when conservative treatment is not effective.\u003C\u002Fp>\u003Ch3>\u003Cstrong>How is the Surgery Performed?\u003C\u002Fstrong>\u003C\u002Fh3>\u003Cp>The procedure can be performed under local or general anaesthesia. It usually takes up to 30 minutes to complete, and time in surgery depends on the number of polyps in the nasal cavity.
